Advice to ASMRtists

Here is my advice to ASMRtists.

Video.

1) Have a microphone, any will do.

The idea that you must have an incredible microphone is just not true. All it takes is an idea, a tingle, a sensation, one you’re willing to share with the world. If you must invest in some audio equipment, a Blue Yeti mic would be an excellent initial investment.

2) Any video equipment will do.

Video is outstanding on any smartphone these days. Start with that! Most ASMR consumers are actually there for the audio experience. Video is secondary, although still important to consider for any sensory experiences you’d like to share visually (various colours, decor, atmosphere, etc).

3) Press record.

Any sort of self-doubt or fears of judgement will only delay what is wonderful. To think, if I overthought those Snoopy vids, they’d never be done. People derive great joy from your content, don’t deprive them!

4) Share with the world.

Okay, this is where the fear and anxiety really sets in. Now’s the time to share with the world, and don’t worry about the naysayers. A community will be waiting for you with open arms.

5) Try anything you can dream of, no creative limits.

You’d be surprised what people like to watch.

6) Don’t give up. Do it to have fun, not for the views or money.
