Selling that first book.

Here’s what to do when selling the first copy of your published book.

In this talk, I use Amazon’s ACX platform to create my first-ever audiobook.

I never knew it could be so easy to grab a microphone, press record and narrate an entire book from my laptop.

Audiobooks are overtaking eBooks in popularity, and now is the time for authors to look at this distribution method to increase their sales.

Throw out everything you think you know about writing and illustrating. When creating children’s books, you can dream of anything as reality.

Use simple tools to create your work. People are often bogged down by what they think they need. It’s likely that you need very little.

Start with a few words or drawings on a notebook. Don’t be fancy.

Think about these questions as you’re putting everything together:

Who is your main character or object?

Can you describe your supporting cast / sidekicks?

What is the world / scene / situation?

What struggles need to be overcome and what is the outcome?

What does your beginning, middle and end look like? How about switching everything around?

What art, colors and shapes should be in your book?

With these questions in mind, it’s time to create. What are you waiting for?
