3 Things I’ve Learned About Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is hard.

No one owes you anything. You think your product or service should sell, when in reality it might not be good enough. The market is honest, and they will tell you what you don’t want to hear.

Entrepreneurship requires patience.

You have to put in the hours. There is no such thing as overnight success. The people who appear to strike it rich spend years of trial and error in their lives to get there. Entrepreneurship is not a 1-year, 5-year or even 10-year plan. It’s a life plan. Once you know that, can you be patient enough to see it through?

Entrepreneurship is lonely.

It doesn’t matter how many coaches you hire to make yourself feel surrounded. Once that strategy call ends, you are alone with your thoughts. There is no boss to hold you accountable. You alone hold yourself accountable. Is that life coach really going to tell you as it is? And will you listen? At the end of the day, you will make decisions alone, and you will feel alone. Can you be mentally prepared for this darkness? If you can, then entrepreneurship is for you.
