My answer to What do you think is the key to success for your small business?
Answer by Trevor Carss:
In starting a clothing line as well as my coaching practice, I have learned one key ingredient to success, which I will share with you:
Give > take.
Give more than you would take from others. I always try to bring tremendous value to others without reciprocal expectation.
Sometimes I’ll work with owners on their business just for the fun of it. I actually dislike asking for money because it means I did not do something to earn it naturally. If you are helping more than taking, you will bring success to you, people will trust you and you will build long-term relationships with them.
Countless small businesses just focus on the transactions, the day-to-day minutiae, without realizing the potential to change lives everyday by giving.
Look at your mission and determine how it impacts others in a positive way. Is your business solving a problem? Start solving problems for fun and people will flock to you.
